Offer guidelines on how PPG issue CEUs to webinars and workshops.
The purpose of this policy is to provide consistent, clear guidelines that can be applied by PPG members and third party educational providers.
Eligibility and Calculation of CEUs
Educational Events As Approved By PPG
CEUs may be granted to the following types of educational events herein referred to as "course/seminar":
CEUs will only be granted for courses/seminars whose content covers one (1) or more of the current Core Competencies for which the applicant is seeking CEUs.
Course/seminar content must be based on current, scientifically-valid principles.
The PPG reserves the right to request additional information regarding the validity of the content. PPG Education Committee will have final determination on course/seminar content validity in order to gain PPG CEUs
Additionally, professional development courses/seminars that fall outside the Core Competencies, but meet all other CEU requirements are allowed.
As an Attendee/Participant
As a Presenter
Presenters can earn 1.5 CEUs per hour of presentation/lecture, when the course/seminar meets the subject matter and scientific qualifications outlined under eligibility. There is a maximum of 8 hours given for presenter CEUs
Animal training classes regularly offered to the general public as part of a Member’s animal training and/or behavior consulting business do not qualify for CEUs.
Authoring Articles - An “article” is defined as a researched piece of work, approximately 1000 words or more, with references, quotes and citations. An animal industry publication is defined by The PPG as the distribution of printed or electronic reproductions by an industry organization for sale to the public or as a benefit of paid membership.
Authoring Books - A “book” is defined as a researched piece of work, approximately 40 pages or more with references, quotes and citations.

Appeal for Denied CEUs
In the event that a CEU application is denied, the applicant may appeal to the PPG Education Committee at CEU@PetProfessionalGuil.com. The applicant must submit evidence and information in support of the application in writing to support the appeal.
The PPG Education Committee may, at its sole discretion, request additional information prior to ruling on the appeal. Approval of an appeal requires a two-thirds majority to pass. If the appeal is not granted by the PPG Education Committee the applicant may not reapply for CEUs for the same course/seminar unless the course/seminar content has been significantly altered.
