Deb is a member of the PPG Board of Directors. Deb's dog training experience spans almost 40 years. She has successfully competed with her dogs in obedience trials and conformation shows gaining Australian Championships and various obedience and endurance titles with them. In the late 1970s she established her own dog training school (sadly aversive) and became an obedience judge in the early 1990s. However, there was something missing in what she was doing. Whilst living in the UK and Europe in the late 1990s Deb read widely about force free training and was privileged to see it working in the UK. The thought of training without coercion was what she had been seeking to re-ignite her interest in dog training.

Many years and much study later, Deb serves on the Board of the Pet Professional Guild and is also a member of the Steering Committee. She is also on the Advisory Board of the Association of Animal Behavior Professionals and the Companion Animal Sciences Institute and plays an integral part on the Lead by Example Campaign for the South Australian Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. This project seeks to promote force free training (as described by the PPG) and to help pet guardians, dog clubs and the general population see the value of using force free methods when training their pets.

Deb has spoken at both the Australian and New Zealand meetings of the APDT and was the recipient of the 2013 Australian APDT Trainer of the Year and Susan Wilkins Achievement Award. Her passion for helping ‘’cross-over” trainers sees her presenting workshops invarious parts of Australia and she also serves in a volunteer capacity as Head Instructor ofCanine Behavioural School Inc (CBS).
